The theme for Africa Day 2021 is: “The Year of the Arts, Culture And Heritage: Levers for Building the Africa We Want?

This means that the African Union wants the focus to be on the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) and the role that they can play in contributing to the GDP of different African countries. They are recognizing the importance CCIs in achieving the Agenda 2063 objectives of regional integration, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, and development.

In this podcast Mpho Mashita and DJ Complexion talk to Mr Mboneni Mulaudzi, Marketing and Communications Manager at SA Cultural Observatory. The SA Cultural Observatory was established primarily to undertake economic research for the cultural and creative industries. They mainly work to release reports which help us to understand our creative economy and to also see the cultural the creative sectors as economic sectors.
