Muslim minorities in predominantly white suburbs have always faced some difficulty in establishing places of worship in their areas. The Bothasig Muslim community is one such case – residents have a property for a place of worship, but have been denied rezoning. The Bothasig Muslim and Cultural Society applied for it to be rezoned, but an appeal was upheld but the city of Cape Town.
