Social development to probe into Old Age Homes

An inspectorate to investigate old age homes and the abuse of the elderly could be on the cards for the province. Provincial Social development minister Albert Fritz says serious mechanisms are needed to deal with human rights abuses in old age homes. His comments follow recent shocking allegations involving the owner of an unregistered Panorama old age home, who has been accused of drugging and neglecting elderly residents left in her care.
