The South African Local Government Bargaining Council (SALGBC) has written to all retirement funds in the local government sector urging them to apply for accreditation and also to amend the rules of the funds to allow members to switch to other funds. This is unlawful as the SALGBC is not authorized to accredit retirement funds. Municipal Employees Pension Fund Chairman Sonnyboy Masingi spoke to RISEfmIN60MINUTES about how MEPF feels about this.
