Blessings: The Chosen Ones

Does God have His people. There are quite a few instances in the Bible where people may wonder whether God has favouritism in how He blesses. David cries about it often in Psalms that the wicked flourish even when they curse at God, but His children suffer. How does that even work? Still on David, he still flourished regardless of what he did. Does God have His chosen?
