Raising stepchildren can be a daunting task to many and in some cases a cause for divorce or separations. Social worker responsible for child protection services in the Limpopo Provincial Department of Social Development Shirley Mphahlele, says having a set of parenting guidelines and understanding should help. Speaking to Nghamula Chauke, she said the idea of blended families is not a new concept in the black culture however, the process of bonding should not be forced but allowed to happen naturally to avoid rejection and resentment.
