The 30-man shortlist for the 2022/23 Ballon d’Or has been announced with some surprising features and shocking exclusions. The biggest talking point, of course, is who is going to win this esteemed accolade. It appears to be a two-horse race between World Cup winner Lionel Messi, and Treble titan, Erling Haaland. Many are suggesting that Messi should claim his 8th Golden Ball, but the argument of Haaland cannot go unnoticed.

The transfer window is officially closed and many teams have “splashed the cash” to beef up their squads.
