The 6th Southern Africa Human Rights Defenders Summit, under the theme "Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Enhancing the Capacity and Resilience of Human Rights Defenders to Protect Civic Space and Advance Freedom, Equality, and Justice in Southern Africa," is currently underway.
The event, which kicked off in Windhoek today (Wednesday) and ends Thursday, November 23, 2023, has brought together human rights defenders from eleven countries, including host Namibia.
