In his speech to kick off the new year, President Hage Geingob expressed his desire that the old-age pension award be raised to N$2000 or higher. Before he leaves his position as Head of State, he wants this to occur.

Approximately 300,000 retirees currently receive the old-age payment on a monthly basis.

Uhuru Dempers, who is the African Peer Review Mechanism national governance council member, spoke to Milka Negongo on the line to discuss with us how this will benefit the elderly population in Namibia.
