Rugby Royalty: Springbok Double World Champion Os Du Randt

Loading player...
Os Du Rand is a living legend of Springbok rugby. In 1994 Os made his Bok debut after being told a few years earlier he’ll never play rugby again. Less than a year later he helped South Africa become the 1995 Rugby World Cup champions and his name would be forever immortalised. Injury hit again in 1998 and although he played a role in the third-place finish at the 1999 Rugby World Cup, Du Randt’s injuries had taken their toll and he decided to retire. But you cannot keep a good man down. In 2003 he returned to domestic rugby with a doctor telling him he had one or two good years left in his knee. Miraculously in 2004 he was back in the Springbok setup and instead of one or two good years, Os went all the way to the 2007 Rugby World Cup. And in the most wonderful of fashions, his last match in the famous green and gold was the final where he would become the first South African to win the Webb Ellis Cup twice. In this honest and fascinating discussion Os looks back on his incredible career and gives us a behind-the-scenes insight into what it takes to become a champion and ultimately Springbok rugby royalty!
