Riding big trends is the aspiration of many traders, but it’s not easy to do. Trends often try to throw us off them when human emotions get in the way. Richard Brennan has developed an ensemble of strategies that seek to capture big breakouts and trending moves that become outliers in a dataset. He refers to it as “hunting outliers”. He seeks to play in the edges of a normal distribution, where the biggest and most infrequent moves exist. In this discussion, we talk about how me has managed to capture outlier moves in cocoa futures, orange juice futures and yes, bitcoin!!
