President Cyril Ramaphosa has criticised lobby groups
Afriforum and Solidarity for their visit to the White House,
accusing them of fueling divisions in South Africa. The
organisations say they sought funding from the Trump
administration for Afrikaner development.
Right-wing Afrikaner groups AfriForum and Solidarity
Movement have been called for immediate arrest and
prosecution following their trip to the US. The uMkhonto
weSizwe Party has opened a case of treason against
AfriForum, and the groups sent a delegation to the White
House to express their grievances.
Trump signed an executive order last month promoting the
resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping
government-sponsored race-based discrimination. The MK
Party opened a case of treason against AfriForum three
weeks ago, accusing the lobby group of peddling false
information about South Africa's transformation and
expropriation policies. The Western Cape police are
investigating a case of high treason, with details and
developments at an infancy stage.
