Kleine Zalze: A Legacy of Excellence in Stellenbosch Winemaking 🍷

Loading player...
Nestled in the heart of Stellenbosch in South Africa’s Cape Winelands, Kleine Zalze is a distinguished family-owned wine estate with roots in viticulture dating back to 1695. The modern winery was established in 1996 by Kobus Basson, who aimed to marry the estate’s legacy with a contemporary, quality-focused winemaking approach. Known for producing wines that are “discernibly South African in style,” Kleine Zalze offers a diverse portfolio including Cellar Selection (approachable, everyday wines), Vineyard Selection, Family Reserve, Cap Classique sparkling, and the innovative Project Z range (which explores experimental vineyards and amphora ageing). Their Vineyard Selection Chenin Blanc 2023, for example, exhibits ripe melon, white peach, and almond blossom tones with a hint of minerality, delivering texture and elegance across the palate.
Southern Hemisphere Wine Center with a commitment to minimal intervention in the cellar and vineyards managed for expression, Kleine Zalze strives to produce wines that are true to their origin, balanced, and refined.
