South Africa’s music scene has a new voice making waves: Aya Msani, a
KwaZulu-Natal-born singer, songwriter, producer, and actress who has
quickly captured attention with her vibrant blend of Afro-Pop, R&B, and Afro
House. A 2025 Basadi in Music Awards nominee for Song of the Year, Aya’s
career is a testament to talent, versatility, and relentless passion.
Aya’s journey into music and performance began early, with formal training
in Live Performance Studies at AFDA, South Africa’s prestigious School for the
Creative Economy. Beyond her musical ambitions, she has also made her
mark on television, appearing in popular South African shows like Ubabakhe,
Lesiba, Uphi uMakoti, and Skanda Love, demonstrating her versatility as a
performer.
Her breakthrough as a recording artist came in 2023 with the single
“Sthandwa Sami,” which entered South Africa’s iTunes Top 100 and laid the

Aya’s career reached new heights with “Dubai 2.0”, a collaboration with Blaq
Diamond that achieved gold status with over 4 million streams, showcasing
her ability to create music that resonates across South Africa and beyond.
Her latest release, “Impilo Emnandi”, in collaboration with Murumba Pitch,
Aura Dusk, and MSA, explores the Afro House sound, demonstrating her
adaptability and vocal range.
Despite her petite frame, Aya Msani is described as a vocal giant, capable of
effortlessly navigating various musical genres and captivating audiences both
on stage and through streaming platforms. The recognition from the Basadi
Music Awards is a clear indicator that her career is on a steep upward
trajectory.
