Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, increasing the GST credit by 25% and adding a one-time top-up, for those who are eligible. The federal government is also launching a National Food Security Strategy to strengthen domestic food production, support supply chains, and provide a $20 million top-up for food banks.
