Christ the Missionary Savior.
In this episode of Fantastic Friday with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church – Missions Series, we turn to the clearest revelation of God’s missionary heart: the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Drawing from Gospel of Luke 19:10 and Epistle to the Philippians 2:5–11, we see that missions is not first a church program, but the eternal purpose of the triune God accomplished through the Son.
Jesus declares that He came “to seek and to save the lost.” That single statement reveals divine initiative, sovereign mercy, and saving purpose. From eternity, the Father sent the Son. In humility, the eternal Son took on flesh, entered our broken world, and obeyed to the point of death—even death on a cross. His mission was not merely to teach or inspire, but to redeem through substitution.
Yet the crucified Savior is now the exalted Lord. Every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Missions, therefore, is confident proclamation rooted in Christ’s finished work and certain triumph.
If we belong to Him, we share His heart. The Missionary Savior shapes a missionary church.
