Tuks FM is and has always been about inclusivity. A pioneer in bringing a new narrative to head. So it goes without saying that hosting the Tuks Up and Out society to chat more about the current obstacles, mindsets, norms and changes they're currently facing off on.
UP & Out is the official LGBTQI+ student society at the University of Pretoria. It exists to create a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for students of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions.
What they do:
Advocacy & Awareness
They actively promote LGBTQI+ rights on campus through campaigns, dialogues, and events—especially around key moments like Human Rights Day and Pride Month.
Support & Community Building
They provide a sense of belonging for students who may feel isolated, marginalized, or misunderstood.
Education & Engagement
Workshops, discussions, and collaborations with other campus bodies to challenge stigma, misinformation, and discrimination.
Representation
They act as a voice for LGBTQI+ students within university structures, pushing for inclusive policies and safer campus environments
