Interview: How to go about reporting a case of sexual harassment at the University of Pretoria with Officer Phatu

As we continue contributing our part as Tuks FM to Sexual Harassment Awareness Week, UP's Investigative Officer Phatu comes into studio for a chat on how to go about reporting a case of sexual harassment at the University of Pretoria.

For 25 years, Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) has united survivors, advocates and communities in a shared commitment to end sexual assault, abuse and harassment.

This year’s 25th‑anniversary theme, “25 Years Stronger: Looking Back, Moving Forward,” honours the history and growth of the movement while reaffirming our focus on prevention, healing and action.

At the University of Pretoria, Sexual Assault Awareness Week (SAAW) is our campus‑based contribution to this global campaign and to our institutional commitment to a safe, inclusive learning and working environment.

Sexual harassment can be reported by laying a criminal charge at a police station, contacting the GBV Command Centre at 0800 428 428, or using internal company grievance procedures. Victims should document all incidents (dates, times, witnesses, nature of conduct) and can seek assistance from Tears Foundation or by calling 08000 TEARS.
