Wednesday Wrap 15 April "Crime and Punishment"

*What’s UP @ Tuks?:*
From losing every match and getting relegated in 2023 to lifting the Varsity Cup for a record sixth time on Monday night, Tuks Rugby wrote the ultimate comeback story.

*Di Polotiki tsa Mzansi (SA Politics):*
Roelf Meyer was appointed as the South African ambassador to the United States. We discuss the mixed reactions from different political parties and figures and whether or not Meyer’s appointment was a strategy by the president to get back into US President Donald Trump’s good books.

*Current Affairs:*
Taxi bosses in the Western Cape are committed to working towards ending violence in the industry. New leadership of the South African Taxi Council (SANTACO) in the province was appointed.

*Madlanga Commission:*
We highlighted the suspension of Tshwane’s CFO for alleged tender rigging and Julius Mkhwanazi is still under a lot of pressure as he is still testifying at the Madlanga Commission. We discuss the fact that Julius Mkhwanazi lied about the death of his birth mother to get a postponement of appearance. After carrying out its own investigations, the commission found out through Home Affairs that the person who died was actually his step mother.

*Crime and Courts:*
He fired a bullet into the air while in a crowd of about 20 000 people and now Julius Malema is one courtroom decision away from losing his seat in Parliament and spending the next 15 years in prison.

*International Scoop:*
We give you an update on the US-Israeli war on Iran. A two week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan last week has collapsed almost immediately after it was established. A key development this week is the enforcement of a blockade by the US Navy on Iranian ports which is meant to economically pressure Iran but also gives rise to renewed war.
