: Deuteronomy 6 and Gospel-Cantered Family Discipleship in the Christian Home
The gospel is not only for personal salvation—it is for the whole family and the whole of life. In this Wisdom Wednesday episode with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church, we explore how Scripture calls parents to bring the truth of God into the ordinary rhythms of the home. Looking especially at Deuteronomy | 6:4–9, Psalm | 78:1–8, Ephesians | 6:1–4, and Colossians | 3:18–21, this episode examines biblical parenting, discipleship in the home, and the necessity of gospel-shaped family life.
Many Christian families have unknowingly divided life into “sacred” and “secular” categories, prioritising worldly success while neglecting spiritual formation. Yet the Bible presents Christianity as total truth for the total life. Parents are called not merely to raise successful or well-behaved children, but children who know the God of the Bible and place their confidence in Him.
This episode also addresses the limits of parenting. No amount of discipline or instruction can regenerate the heart—only God can grant new birth (John | 3:3). The gospel therefore produces humility, repentance, grace, and perseverance within the Christian home.
Whether you are a parent, grandparent, church leader, or young believer, this episode will encourage you to think deeply about how the gospel transforms family life and shapes generations for the glory of God.
