Power Utility Eskom has tabled a final wage offer increase of 6.2% for this year, this after moving from a 0% wage increase stance to 4.7%, this was upped to 5% yesterday which unions labelled a joke. Unions are now tasked with taking the final offer to their members and if no agreement is reached, the dispute will be escalated to the CCMA. Last week, Minister of Public Enterprises and Treasury basically went cap in hand for assistance from banks to help nurse SOEs back to health. Livhuwani Mammburu, National Spokesperson for Num joined us to discuss the mood around the proposed increase.
