Google South Africa released its 12th year end Zeitgeist report recently (zeitgeist meaning spirit of the time). The search engine creates this list through its Google trends feature which measures the volumes of searches around terms and topics. The Google searches are organised in two categories, namely Trending vs Searched.

The trending queries are the searches with the highest amount of traffic over a specific period, while the most searched queries are the most popular for a specific period.
