
Why has the demand for Covid-19 loans fallen?

Demand for the Covid-19 loan guarantee scheme is waning, with the Banking Association of South Africa saying that only R17.8bn in loans had been approved by banks and taken up by small businesses and this is less than a tenth of the credit it’s offering. Business Day TV caught up with the association’s CEO Bongiwe Kunene and she shared some of the reasoning behind this.
