Desmond Latham

Des has always been an obsessive when it comes to audio story-telling. Beginning from the days of monitoring shortwave radio stations at night from his bedroom on a Zululand farm, all the way through to running his own mobile content company, he has found time to allow the world to speak to his consciousness. Starting with the Anglo-Boer War, which led to The Battle of Stalingrad, Plane Crash Diaries, South African Border Wars, The Falklands War, The Winter War and The History of South Africa podcast, his experience in warfare and conflict reporting brings an edge to his observations. The History of South Africa in particular has attracted global attention, along with Plane Crash Diaries. The aviation series has over 270 000 listeners, and 75% international audience. Using a scripting technique to refine the episodes, and drawing on a vast range of sources, Des writes 4000 words an episode and produces the podcasts himself. There is no support crew.
