Award nominated author Joanne Joseph has told Hot1027 news that writing her grandmother’s life story from a fictional point of view gave her the poetic licence she needed to tell the story.

Joseph’s novel “Children of Sugarcane” has made it to the shortlist for this year’s Sunday Times Literary awards -in partnership with Exclusive Books.
