Power dynamics and a crumbling coalition in the City of Johannesburg

Coalition politics put to the test as fight to control Joburg intensifies with election of speaker. A special sitting of the City of Johannesburg council to elect a speaker is scheduled for Wednesday. The DA is said to have refused to renegotiate its coalition agreement after its political partners pleaded for the election of an IFP candidate, instead of a DA member.
