Violence against women spikes, assault cases reach five-year high: crime stats

Police minister Bheki Cele delivered crime statistics for the second quarter, July to September 2022, of the 2022/23 financial year. In this period there was a double-digit increase in crimes against women and the highest number of assault cases reported to the police in five years.
