City of Ekurhuleni mayorship crisis

The City of Ekurhuleni’s window to elect a new mayor is fast closing.
This after it postponed a sitting to vote for Sivuyile Ngodwana’s replacement last week.
Ngodwana was removed through a motion of no confidence in March.
The city, which is run through a working agreement between the African National
Congress (ANC), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and other smaller parties,
have been caught in clashes between the established parties. Gauteng Cooperative Governance MEC Mzi Khumalo said the political gimmicks were not helpful, as they took focus away from service delivery. MEC joined Phemelo on the line.
