The Unicorn chats to Strongman participants, Reuben & Timeon Jansen van Rensburg.
Reuben Jansen van Rensburg (21) who won the silver medal at SA Strongest Man 2023 in August last year, got third place at the ASU Log & Deadlift Championships in Johannesburg in March this year. His younger brother Timeon Jansen van Rensburg (17), who competed for the very first time, set an African Log Press Record of 90kg and finished in second place at this event.
They are both 100% natural athletes, which means they do not use any steroids or growth enhancers and are quite outspoken about the detrimental effects it has on a young man’s health and physique.
At 1.80m tall, Reuben competes in the U/80kg weight class while Timeon who measures 1.91m tall, currently competes in the U/18 category where there is no specific weight limit. Once he turns 18 in August, he’ll be competing in the U/90kg weight class.
