Pravin Gordhan has died. He became the face of resistance against state capture after he was fired as Finance Minister in 2017. A trained pharmacist, Gordhan was the first Commissioner of the South African Revenue Service and helped turn it into a world leader. His last posting as Minister of Public Enterprises was unsuccessful as parastatals lurched from one disaster to the next.
