In this week’s profile feature, Phemelo speaks to Journalist and Author, Nickolaus Bauer about his passion for Joburg. Bauer co-founded NGO Dlala Nje, situated at the base of Ponte City, Dlala Nje, a Zulu phrase meaning “just play” is a safe haven for inner city kids with no place to go. The Ngo is an entertainment and education centre, boasting an array of games, workshops and arts-based activities. Bauer has also released a new book Titled, Great Johannesburg. The book covers many aspects of Jozi life, from zama zamas to water cuts, blackouts, exploding streets and political instability.
