Mogale City Mayor resigns

The African Transformation Movement’s Councillor, Danny Thupane, has resigned as mayor of Mogale City Local Municipality. Thupane has been at the helm of the West Rand municipality since April 2023, with the backing of an ANC, EFF coalition. Thupane’s resignation was announced by the Speaker of Council, before a motion of no confidence against him being voted on. In his resignation letter, Thupane said he resigned after consulting with his party and the ANC. Phemelo speaks to ANC West Rand Regional Chairperson, William Matsheke.
