As corporate South Africa and the rest of the world celebrated Global Ethics Day on (Wednesday, 16 October), the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) has warned that workplace misconduct is worse than ever, with almost 9 out of 10 employees saying they don’t feel like they work in an ethical workplace culture.
This despite increased local and international efforts to promote ethical business practices, and proposed reforms to South Africa’s whistleblower legislation in the wake of the Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture, Corruption and Fraud in the Public Sector (better known as the Zondo Commission)
