The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund has launched the state of the Child Report and announced the study findings. The study investigated the economic impact of growing up in poverty. It underlined the critical need for action to avert future economic deterioration and change the narrative for South Africa's disadvantaged

children. The report lays bare the daily realities faced by over 13 million children growing up with limited access to food, education, healthcare, and safe homes. With child poverty draining 28% of the country’s GDP—an astounding R1.9 trillion—the scale of this crisis is undeniable. Phemelo speaks to NMCF Ceo, Dr Linda Ncube-Nkomo.
