Kicking off from this Freedom Day weekend, fishing along the KZN coastline will be been nothing short of spectacular! Anglers have been reeling in a wide variety of species including cuda, snoek, dorado, kob, bronze bream, grunter, and even garrick. The South Coast is leading the action - even in dirty water. Mid and North Coasts have seen some action too, though weather made conditions tricky up north.
Freshwater fans haven’t been left out either, with trout active and bass coming out strong at Hazelmere and Inanda. Offshore, all eyes were on the Durban Ski Boat Festival, where underdog Gareth Brockett stunned everyone by landing a 29.8kg cuda on a tiny boat—winning a fully rigged prize package worth R920,000 after registering just 10 minutes before the event closed!
And don’t forget to tune into the all-new fishing podcast, The Deep Dive—a Q&A-style show featuring some of South Africa’s top anglers, now live on all major platforms. With perfect conditions, hot bites, and an unforgettable weekend of fishing, it’s safe to say: KZN’s waters are on fire!
