Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, who’s leading the newly established Judicial Commission of Inquiry into allegations of political interference and corruption within the South African Police Service, says preparations are well under way. The hearings, set to kick off in August will dig deep into serious claims of political interference and corruption. This all follows explosive allegations from KZN Police Commissioner, Lt. Gen. Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. But Justice Madlanga made it clear: while Mkhwanazi’s claims were the spark, the commission needs to follow due process before any fireworks start.
