GUEST – Irshaad Kathrada, CEO of the Localisation Support Fund (LSF)

The Localisation Support Fund (LSF) has released a new case study showcasing the transformative impact of lean manufacturing principles at Coricraft, one of South Africa’s leading furniture manufacturers. With support from the LSF and lean specialists Dizani Consulting, Coricraft has achieved an 8% productivity increase, a 38% improvement in efficiency, and localised four product lines that were previously imported — adding an annualised R80 million in domestic manufacturing value.

This intervention forms part of a broader national effort to rebuild South Africa’s manufacturing base, aligned with the Furniture Industry Master Plan. Coricraft’s success demonstrates how deliberate localisation strategies, backed by technical expertise and management commitment, can drive industrial competitiveness, create jobs, and deepen supply chains.
