Gauteng’s permanent delegates to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will spend the week of 18–21 November assessing how well municipalities are delivering basic services and where they’re falling short. The oversight visits form part of the NCOP’s

annual Provincial Week, this year themed “Building Viable Municipalities for Enhanced Delivery of Basic Services to Communities.” Delegates will visit several sites across the province, paying special attention to stalled, delayed or abandoned infrastructure projects. The programme kicks off in Tshwane. Leader of the Gauteng NCOP delegation, Jane Mananiso, speaks to Phemelo about what communities can expect from the week’s engagements.
