"Men and boys play an important part" - KZN Department of Social Development

Every year from the 25th of November to the 10th of December, South Africa marks the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.

While the campaign draws national attention, incidents of gender-based violence continue throughout the year, and many women and children in KZN face ongoing safety concerns.

For many survivors, help can feel distant or temporary. Over the next 16 days, we will be sharing resources, survivor stories, and interviews with social workers and NGO directors who do the work every single day.

To help us understand the country’s efforts, the challenges we are still facing, and the support available to victims and families, Carol Ofori spoke to Mr Pravin Chetty who is the Director of Restorative Services at the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development.
