Madlanga interim report kept under wraps as Ramaphosa approves criminal referrals

President Cyril Ramaphosa will not release the Madlanga Commission’s interim report, saying he is not legally obliged to do so, but has green-lit immediate criminal referrals flowing from the inquiry. The Presidency says the interim findings are incomplete and releasing them would be premature. The commission is probing explosive claims of political interference and criminal infiltration in law enforcement. Meanwhile, drama erupted at the Nkabinde Inquiry after NDPP Shamila Batohi declined to return from a lunch break, saying she needed legal advice.
