Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana says government’s plan to rein in spending and boost revenue is working. Economic growth is projected at 1.6%, inflation at 3.4%, and a planned R20-billion income tax hike has been scrapped. Tax brackets will also finally adjust for inflation. Phemelo gets reaction from Zwelinzima Vavi, General Secretary of South African Federation of Trade Unions; Mahfouz Raffee, Head of Research at Equal Education; David Harrison, CEO of the DG Murray Trust; and Pikkie Greef, National Secretary of South African National Defence Union.
