According to 2026 Global Cancer Observatory data, the death rates from prostate cancer in Southern Africa, Western Africa and Middle Africa are amongst the highest in the world.
Andrew Oberholzer, chief executive officer of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa, speaks to Carol-Ann Kelleher about the danger signs. It was during the marketing campaign to introduce Viagra to South Africa that he realised that men were too embarrassed to speak to their doctors about topics such as prostate cancer. It led to his founding of The Southern African Sexual Health Association and later The Men’s Health Association. The Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa is a 2026 beneficiary of the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer presented by Isuzu Motors South Africa. This podcast is brought to you by GBS Mutual Bank.
