Khaya Mahlangu is a celebrated South African saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator, born in Soweto in 1954. He began his musical journey on bugle, moved to trumpet and later made the saxophone his signature voice. Over a career spanning several decades, he has performed alongside leading figures including Hugh Masekela, Abdullah Ibrahim and Jonas Gwangwa, while mentoring younger musicians and contributing to jazz education.
