09.09.2024 - GRACE UPON GRACE - 'Calling all the Pastors, leaders, Ministers for the IC3Africa Conference happening in Sep and to hear more, this week on #GraceuponGrace with Musa Jakuja I am joined by Deborah Ruth Bruce (better known as Debbie Bruce), was born in District Six, Cape Town. She moved with her husband to George to pioneer a new church. Debbie is known to be a Pioneer and Leader in an environment where women fear to tread. In her Christian Journey - Debbie was the First Woman to complete her studies at the Cape Town Baptist Theological College. The Bruce’s were the first couple to study fulltime at the same college. Debbie was the first female to be ordained in the Baptist Convention of South Africa. She is currently the First Vice President of the Baptist Convention of South Africa – the first female in this position. In the Market Place – Debbie was the First woman of colour to establish a Real Estate Company and Property Development Company in the Southern Cape. She was also the First Woman to establish a Business Advise Centre to assist emerging and existing Black Business. Debbie was the first female and person of colour to become a NonExecutive Director of the Klein Karoo Co-operative. She has served on various boards, including Absa Bank, George and Oudtshoorn Chamber of Commerce, George Tourism Board, Business Partners and other community and government structures. She has received numerous awards, including the Nelson Mandela Award, for her contribution in the empowerment of communities. Debbie is a go-getter and very passionate about the development of people. She serves the Lord faithfully, with her husband, as associate pastor at the Parkdene Baptist Church.
