"Clitoris collector's" transfer application dismissed

An application by the Danish national, accused of genital mutilation, to be transferred back to the Grootvlei Prison outside Bloemfontein has been dismissed. The 63-year old Peter Frederiksen filed papers with the Free State High Court to ask the Department of Correctional Services not to transfer him from Grootvlei until his hearing is complete. He was transferred to a Johannesburg maximum security prison in November for security reasons. He has however remained at Grootvlei since his last appearance on January 13. Frederiksen's lawyer, Luthando Tshangana says his client was not given any reasons for the initial transfer, adding that Johannesburg was too far from his business and children. Tshangana says a decision has not been taken regarding whether Frederiksen will be transferred to another prison again.

Frederiksen will back in court on Tuesday.
