DA calls for suspension of land tax for FS farmers

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Free State has called on the provincial government to suspend land tax for farmers in the province.
The party's provincial leader, Patricia Kopane, said the provincial governments’ R39 million drought relief package is not nearly enough to assist farmers in the province, and this threatens food security in the whole of South Africa. She said it is also not clear how the money will reach farmers.
Kopane said her party wrote to Free State Premier Ace Magashule to offer advice – backed up by research – on how to address the crisis.
