The SA National Defence Force (SANDF) says it has already approached Armscor on the procurement of a new presidential jet after President Jacob Zuma was left stranded in Burundi on Friday due to a fuel leak.
Zuma arrived back home on Saturday afternoon after the army sent another aircraft to fetch him from the capital, Bujumbura.
SANDF spokesperson Simphiwe Dlamini says this is not the first incident in which the presidential jet, Inkwazi, has experienced glitches.
Meanwhile the South African National Defence Union (Sandu) says the presidential jet has only flown for 15 years which is half its life span.
The union's Pikkie Greeff says they are against the decision.
