The SPCA has denied claims that 100 dogs and 40 cats were put down at one of its branches in North West.
This after a suspended employee, Suzette Kotze, made the allegations about the organisation’s Stilfontein office recently.
Kotze, who has worked for the SPCA for the past six years, is accusing the organisation of encouraging the euthanizing of animals rather than trying to find homes for abandoned pets.
SPCA spokesperson, Jaco Pieterse says the Stilfontein branch only has the capacity to care for 50 dogs and 15 cats, making Kotze’s claims of mass killings untrue. He adds that the SPCA also set up a Facebook page for the branch, encouraging the public to adopt animals.
Pieterse told OFM News that Kotze’s newly established Matlosana Animal Shelter is currently illegally occupying the Stilfontein SPCA premises.
