The Free State provincial government – in partnership with the private sector - is set to launch International Fraud Awareness Week amid shock waves by former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s State of Capture Report.
The EFF in the province says it is waiting with bated breath for the commission of inquiry, a requirement of the report, so that suspected multimillion rand transactions with the controversial Gupta family could be laid bare.

Rudolph Laubscher, chairperson of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE SA) in the central region, says more and more such cases are ending up in court.

Meanwhile Free State Premier Ace Magashule has welcomed a decision by the NPA to drop more than 200 charges of alleged fraud, corruption, money laundering and accepting bribes against provincial Arts and Culture MEC Mathabo Leeto that dates back to 2007 and 2009.
