'Management of FS hospitals a huge concern'

The management of hospitals in the Free State is one of the provincial treasury’s biggest concerns, according to Finance MEC Elzabe Rockman.
The Free State Health Department was placed under administration more than year ago. Rockman says although the department has shown improvement, the management of hospitals needs urgent attention.
She was reacting to several damning reports about the state of healthcare in the province. At least four hospitals – Universitas, Pelonomi, Dr J S Moroka and Bongani hospitals – have been making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Rockman says the mere size of the health department is a challenge.
